We chat to local mum and entrepreneur Patti Cupido about her bespoke knitwear business, Twelve Yarns
“I live in Paarl, and I’m married to Alec Cupido—together we have three lovely girls, who are all very different but are all most supportive of me being an entrepreneur,” says Patti.
Tell us a bit about your business, what do you do?
Having an ardent passion for sewing, knitting and crocheting paired with a relentless passion for yarn and fabrics is what drives my innermost ambitions to create whatever comes to my mind.
What sparked the idea for it?
It was partly inspired by the empty nest syndrome. Having been a stay at home mother running errands for the kids all my life, I wanted a sense of individuality, a sense of independence and me time. I wanted to fill the empty nest with Twelve Yarns. I also hope I can inspire other women that even being a grandmother you can still be what you want to be, and not just the nanny.
What does being a mother mean to you?
Being a mother is the best thing in my entire life. I could not ask for more with three beautiful, individual girls.
